About Taiha
Thanks for being curious enough to click onto this page, I know you probably have an errand or two to run,
yet you're sitting here reading this instead. When I click on "About Us" pages, I guess I hope to gain some
sense of what kind of person is behind the writing and work. I hope I can give you that here but I'll be honest
with you, I've been on this journey for a long time and it's really exciting. So, if you want to get to know who I
really am, you should call me and ask me about the latest gluten-free flour or what my patients look like this
week because when you do, you'll see and hear how passionate I really am about health and healing!
I grew up in Minnesota with my mom, dad and sister. Some really fun things about my childhood are: my dad
used to be a DJ for KDWB before it even went FM, my mom wore rose colored glasses and strung together
wreaths of clover for my hair. At one point, half our back yard was a vegetable garden but I was addicted to
Coke~a~Cola and Little Debbies.
I went to nursing school and graduated in 1989 and went to work for what is now Health Partners and then I
moved into private practice. I've worked in a lot of different types of medicine, I was a float nurse for years.
Everything from pediatric dermatology to occupational medicine. I guess if I had to say which experience is
most relevant in my work now, I'd choose internal medicine and allergy/dermatology. Internal medicine gave
me a rich experience in chronic illness and the allergy/derm dept gave me a really great understanding
about what shows up on the outside of the body is a reflection of what's happening on the inside.
I started working in wellness programming in 2002 after I discovered how good it felt to work with people
holistically. But I really got passionate about nutrition when I healed my own kids with food. I had a child with
severe asthma and allergies and he was at times on five meds a day. When I was able to get him off 100%
of the medication by changing the way we ate, I really had to look into the healing power of real nutrition. I
also soon discovered I had a child with food sensitivities so we've been living gluten-free for years. My other
child was malnourished and at one point even had E-coli from a local petting zoo. I attribute his complete
and speedy recovery to the food I had been using to build his immune system. He should have had
permanent kidney damage but instead, he skated through and recovered fully.
Purposeful work is really important to me, I feel my work is to be of service to my community. Illness can be
so temporary, even chronic illness. Can you believe we can radically change the course of a chronic illness
in 30 days? I get really geeked up over that type of medicine, medicine that works.
I live in Eden Prairie with my BFF/husband and my three amazing kids so if you see me at Lakewinds Co-op
in Chanhassen, say "Hi Taiha!" By the way, I consider my co-op to be my pharmacy. I think it's so important to
support them that last year I ran for a seat on the board of directors and am currently doing my best in
supporting the whole team.
Well there you have it, my journey in a really small nutshell. Thanks for taking the time to read it, now you
know more about me than some of my neighbors do!
